The U.S. currency still stands near its highest level since June 2017

The dollar fell Friday, as investors took profits on a rally that has taken the U.S. currency to its highest level in more than a year.

The WSJ Dollar Index, which measures the U.S. currency against a basket of 16 others, was recently down 0.2% at 89.89.

Turbulence in emerging markets and strong U.S. economic data have drawn investors into the dollar in recent weeks. The currency is up 4.5% this year against its peers and stands near its highest level since June 2017.
