Port Authority Warns of Two-Hour Rides From Midtown to LaGuardia Without New Rail Link

Traffic congestion might have ‘a disproportionate impact’ on the 10-mile trip from Midtown New York to LaGuardia Airport by 2045

The roads between Midtown Manhattan and LaGuardia Airport will become so congested over the coming decades that travelers may need to budget up to two hours for the 10-mile trip to the airport by 2045, LaGuardia’s operator has said.

By that time, between 8.4 million and 12 million people annually could be whizzing along on a train to the airport if a rail link can be built in the coming years, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey estimates in documents released Thursday.
