Asian Stocks Open Down After Late US Slide

By Anonymous

0007 GMT — Asian stocks have started lower, following the late-day slide in the U.S. after the Fed’s latest rate increase and Powell’s press conference. The Nikkei is down 0.4% after 8-straight gains for Japan’s stock benchmark, which put it at 8-month highs. New Zealand’s NZX 50 is similarly lower. But South Korea and Australia are logging just 0.1% declines in the opening minutes of action in both. Today is the first trading of the week in Korea following holidays, during which Asian equities were generally weak to start the week but solidly higher yesterday. S&P 500 futures are up a point.
