0008 GMT — Asian stock markets have started higher, with the Nikkei jumping further amid added gains for dollar-yen and bond yields. The Japanese equities benchmark is up 1.4%, returning to late-January levels after having already bounced 3.6% the prior three trading days. Life insurers Dai-ichi and T&D are up some 3% more in the opening minutes as yields on 10-year Treasurys (of which the firms are investors) have risen to 3.05%. Korea’s Kospi is up 0.4% after Tuesday’s gains in U.S. equities, led by a rebound in American tech names, while Down Under markets are only slightly higher.
